Yes, it's really me....a year later!

Just a quick post to say that I am excited about picking threads and preparing to start the new little BBD SAL, Her Sampler - 1796.  The pattern is a freebie which can be found on Alma's BBD blog.

I got bogged down with big samplers last year.  They are beautiful, but in this house none of them have been completed, and I am hungry for some simple, easy to complete prims, and a good dose of BBD.

I hope to start this project tonight at our little BBD group.  I have made copies of the design for everyone.

Pictures of that and other little things that I have been doing will be forthcoming.

Hope the weather is good in your neighborhood today.  It is the Merry Month of May!!!Bobbi

Nice to Be Back

Hi, Stitchers,

It is nice to be back in blogland.  I started looking at blogs again just in time to get into Nicola's Scarlet Letter Year SAL, which is much fun and very exciting to see which of The Scarlet Letter Samplers 200 different stitchers are currently working on, converse around the world, pick up interesting info, etc.

Bottom line is that between the Scarlet Letter SAL and my Ann Bowers sampler (see my other blog ) I can't see much time for stitching BBD projects.  I must say though, that I have bought three of the Nashville releases, and I am in love with Honeybee Hill, both patterns.

Here is my new BBD stash:

The three new BBD designs I bought
and most of the threads for the Honeybee projects.
I usually change some of the threads on BBD, but so far I liked the colors called for...we'll see.  MY LNS was sold out of three of the colors...when all else fails, look in stash...I think I probably have two of the three.

I never did post a photo of my framed BBD piece from last year that I stitched in memory of my mother.  Although this isn't a great picture, here is the framed Wild Garden.  I put my mom's initials and years of birth and death on it.  I am really happy with the way it turned out.

I chose a wide frame to make this smallish piece more important.
I think it came out great.

Hope all of you are having at least some good weather this weekend.  Ours is beautiful today.  I sympathize with those who have had such a difficult winter after a difficult autumn.

Happy stitching...

Bobbi

A New Post from Alma

Alma just posted, showing a photo of the latest Loose Feathers, which is at the printer.  Check it out here!

Now the question is...when will I ever post to the blog?  I have photos of my stitched piece for the Spring Treasure Box, and I now have the box that LZ was kind enough to paint for me for my birthday.  Will try to work on this over the weekend and get something posted to this poor, neglected blog.

Totally sluggish in this HOT, HOT weather.  Too much!  Keep cool, everyone.

A New Post from Alma

WaHoo!  A new post from Alma!  Her posts are even rarer than mine on this blog this year.  ;-)

She shows their booth from the recent Spring market, full of beautiful quilts.  I'm taking a quilt class Saturday and was going to use my BBD Meadow jellyroll for the class, but I might hold onto it now until their upcoming Meadow quilt book comes out.  We'll see.  They have some beautiful quilts shown...be sure to check out Alma's post.

I got a kick out of her comment that some of their fans were welcoming them into the 21st century because Barb had made a quilt using an adhesive product and machine applique.  I can relate to that...sometimes it's fun to do things the "21st century" way and sometimes the "good old days" are what I yearn for.  How about you?
They also have a youtube on this post!  These gals are "getting with it" - at least for now.  It is a nice place to visit.

Happy stitching...or quilting!

A New Start...Whether I Need it or Not!

I'm going to our little BBD group tonight.  And I had some good news today.  So I have decided that this should be celebrated with a new project start!  (Yes, I know, I am still only half way through Anniversaries of the Heart and 2011 Loose Feathers.)  Not to mention that two new BBD patterns are available any day now!

Can you guess what my start is going to be from this?
Give up?  Or did you get it right?

Yes, I'm itching to start on Spring's Song - Jewelry Box.  I love the look of this, and it certainly seems like a perfect project to celebrate the beautiful month of May.

I have been watching her progress, and now drooling over Brenda's Spring's Song finish, and I can't restrain myself any longer!  And while you're visiting Brenda's blog...aren't her cottages just the cutest?  (Another project that I am woefully behind on.)

I wish all of you a wonderful month of May and hope that your spring stitching is going well.  I hope I have some real progress to show you on this project soon.

Wild Garden

I completed my Wild Garden over the weekend. A small but significant finish.  Since I had started this piece the night before I got the call that my Mother was getting seriously worse, I decided to stitch it as a little memorial piece for her.  It was completed one month and one day after she passed.

Can't wait to get it framed.

Rest in peace, Mom.

Wild Garden Progress

I worked on BBD Wild Garden over the weekend and made some progress.  I really like this little design.  It's fun to watch it coming together, although it seems like a lot of color changes...but worth it.  I started this the day before I learned that my mother had taken a turn for the worst.  She died ten days ago.  Now that I am back to working on it, I plan to put her initials on top and list her birth and passing years toward the bottom, and then have the piece framed.

I don't stitch on 30 count, unless the piece has to be a specific size to fit something, so I am stitching mine on Picture This Plus 40 count Legacy.  The photo shows it a little light.  I am using the specified colors...they are gorgeous...except since I am stitching with one strand of thread, I have to substitute for the mixed color.  Not sure yet, but I might use Dried Thyme in place of the two colors.

What a beautiful day we have here in Cleveland today...much nicer than either of the two weekend days.  Bright sunshine and beautiful blue sky highlighting the trees in bloom or budding out.  Perfect!  Enjoy...

Loose Feathers...Coming Soon

Uh oh...I'm still on Autumn of last year's Loose Feathers trilogy, and I see the first of the 2012 Loose Feathers is right around the corner.  Check here on Alma's blog to see the Mary Ann Blackburn leaflet which will be in your LNS or at your favorite OLS soon.  Yikes, I'm falling further and further behind.

Happy stitching!
